Lasersaur Laser Cutter

The CRB Makerspace has one Lasersaur laser cutter with a work area of 1220x610mm (48x24").

Currently Under Maintenance

The laser cutter is currently under maintenance and cannot be used.

Hazard level

RED

Warning

  • Risk of severe eye damage from direct or reflected laser beam. Never open lid while operating.
  • Fire hazard from materials igniting

Safety

  • Never leave the laser cutter operating unattended. Material may catch fire.
  • The machine contains a powerful CO2 laser that is invisble to the human eye but can cause severe eye damage from direct or reflected exposure to the laser mean. The lid must ALWAYS be closed when operating. Never defeat the safety interlocks.
  • Always ensure proper ventilation before starting the laser cutter.
  • Only cut acrylic on this machine. Other materials may produce toxic fumes or catch fire.
  • If the material catches fire, stop the machine and follow fire safety precaustions. There is a fire extinguisher by the door of the Makerspace.
